New president for Hitachi GST to strengthen ties with Hitachi Ltd

Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (Hitachi GST) has appointed California-based Stephen Milligan as president, with the company saying he will be “instrumental in redefining our business model, increasing operational efficiency and overseeing our business transformation. “

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies. Hiroaki Nakanishi  said in announcement today that as president, Stephen Milligan would be “responsible for maximizing our investments, while delivering long-term value to our customers and sustained growth for Hitachi GST."

The company said that Mr Nakanishi, would remain as Chairman of Hitachi GST, effective 1 April, to further strengthen the Hitachi GST and Hitachi Ltd. relationship, while also assuming a key role at Hitachi, Ltd. as Executive Vice President responsible for Hitachi Group's global strategy.

Hitachi said Milligan would also retain the title of Hitachi GST Chief Financial Officer and that as a 23-year veteran of the technology industry, Milligan brought a unique combination of experiences to his new position.

The announcement said that before joining Hitachi GST, Milligan was most recently senior vice president and CFO for Western Digital and  previously worked in financial leadership positions at Dell and Price Waterhouse.

Kazuo Furukawa, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hitachi, Ltd, said the appointments of Stephen Milligan and  Hiroaki Nakanishi were in recognition of Hitachi GST's outstanding performance and  were intended to strengthen the commitment between Hitachi, Ltd. and Hitachi GST.
