HP says iPrint from iPhone

IT Industry - Market

Other features include improved print quality thanks to de-noise filtering technology and the automatic selection of the photo tray (where fitted). The default print size is 4 x 6 in or 10 x 15 cm.

"HP has previously developed applications to enable simple and convenient mobile printing from HP's iPAQ, desktop PC and notebook ranges.

"However until now, consumers had no easy way to print these special moments captured on their iPhone or stored on their iPod touch," said Guyon Collins, consumer business manager for HP's Imaging and Printing Group Australia.

"This is a significant step forward in the history of HP's mobile printing innovations, which continue to help customers print their moments anywhere, on any device."

Judging from comments posted on the App Store, early users seem generally happy with the application, though a few report that their printer wasn't visible to the app and one person claimed it did not select the photo tray.

In most cases it is not possible to tell whether the problems arose when iPrint Photo was used with an unsupported printer.

The list of supported printers is tucked away on HP's web site, so here's a direct link to it.
