Don Meij, CEO of Dominos Pizza comments: "Convenience is a critical motivator behind Australians choosing to order a pizza. As the biggest pizza delivery company in Australia we are interested in any platform that will make it easier and quicker to get one of our pizzas into the living room for the whole family to enjoy while watching TV. The TiVo media device combines great television and movies and we are proud to play a role in kicking off transactional services."
Hybrid TV (the Australian and New Zealand licensees of the TiVo product) CEO, Robbee Minicola, adds: "The new Domino's service coming in 2009 is an outstanding example of how the TV is developing beyond one-way entertainment and moving into transactional service delivery. When a TiVo family sits down to watch a movie or watch their favourite TV program they can complete the experience with a pizza delivered directly to their door.”
OK, those are the big words, what does it really mean? Actually, not much more. Domino’s are in the business of delivering pizza; TiVo is in the business of keeping you on your sofa, glued to the television. It’s a match made in (someone’s idea of) heaven. Quick… who else delivers food?
You can be assured, pizza is not the only thing TiVo has announced for delivery – read on…
