iPhone now number one for mobile ads worldwide: AdMob

Market

Mobile advertising solutions provider, AdMob, claims the iPhone is now the number one device worldwide on which mobile ads are served, displacing the Motorola RAZR. However, the RAZR still holds the edge in the US, according to AdMob figures.

AdMob stores and analyzes handset and operator data from every ad request in its network to optimize ad serving. Each month, the Mobile Metrics Report aggregates this data to provide insights into major trends in the mobile ecosystem.

According to the October 2008 AdMob Mobile Metrics Report, ad traffic to iPhones from Latin America and the Caribbean has more than doubled in the last year. The report found that iPhone experienced strong traffic worldwide to become the number one device, with 37% of requests coming from outside of the US.

The iPhone experienced particularly explosive growth across AdMob’s network after the company launched its ad units for iPhone sites and applications in July 2008, according to AdMob

In October 2008, AdMob claims to have reached more than 4.5 million iPhones, 1 out of every 3 on the market.
