Star Wars Day is a special day in the calendar, in fact one might argue that the day was destined for this greatness long before the movies, books, toys, video games, comic books, conventions…. came along. Scan the entire gamut of days of the year; none other could ever fit the bill. Not even close.
When George Lucas created a single film, Star Wars, which was released in 1977, he really didn’t have a good idea of what he might have created, but he soon caught on! Soon after we had “Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back” and “Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.”
Hang on, episodes V and VI?? Yes, there were to be prequels – possibly the first time in movie history, the story was to be told in some kind of reverse. And the original “Star Wars” became episode IV.
There are still threats of episodes VII, VIII and IX. Perhaps they’ll be games, or novels, or even ring-tones!
So, back to the point at hand. The once-a-year celebration of all things “Star Wars.” Today is the day; none other can possibly be anointed.
So, to all the Star Wars fans around the world, I offer this salutation. Happy Star Wars Day.
May the fourth be with you!
