IT Industry - Market

The IBF says it expects membership of its Asia Pacific region to come from the top 1000 organisations in the Asia Pacific. Certainly its membership fees of $A35,000 per annum, will deter many lesser organisations. It expects those attending its Sydney meeting to include the intranet manager of ANZ Bank, AMP, BP, Procter & Gamble, Visa, Pepsi, Motorola, Nissan, Toyota and JP Morgan Chase.

Events at the launch meeting will include live tours of an IBF member intranet, discussions on current challenges in intranet management and working session looking at IBF research into 'employee directory: wave three'.

The IBF says that a study by the UK's Warwick Business School found that IBF had brought about significant benefits to members in the areas of design and usability. "A study of twelve IBF members, showed that the average improvement to each organisation after joining IBF was 11 percent. Cadbury Schweppes had the highest improvement of 29 percent. In the area of design, the average improvement after joining IBF was 21 percent. Cadbury Schweppes had the highest improvement of 56.7 percent. In the area of usability, the average improvement was 13 percent. The Department for Constitutional Affairs showed the highest improvement in this area of 23 percent."
