Given the climate and the Australian reputation for a relative lack of prudishness, we were slightly surprised by responses to another question in the survey.

Asked "Have you ever participated in a conference call wearing a bathrobe (or less)," Australians were slightly more likely than average to answer "No, never," and only half as many said "Yes, often." For the record, 27 percent said they had done it at least once.

One of the more worrying results include three percent of respondents who say they answer voicemail on their mobile phones while driving do so while steering with their knee.

We suspect they were the same three percent that preferred not to answer the question "Have you ever had a traffic accident trying to answer voice mail or email on your mobile device?").

Seventeen percent have worked on a PC outside a store or business in order to use their wireless signal. Presumably they all work for organisations that are too cheap to provide GPRS, EDGE or 3G connectivity for mobile employees.

And we despair of the 14 percent who admit to checking email or text messages while attending a funeral or wedding.
