Mooter prepares for ASX listing

IT Industry - Listed Tech

Search engine company Mooter Media prepares for its Australian Stock Exchange debut on 14 December, after raising $8 million at 65c a share for just under 40% of the company.

Mooter uses what it claims is a unique predictive personalisation, clustering and theme analysis to provide better search results and more targeted advertising.

Online entrepreneur, Liesl Capper raised close to $5 million in venture capital, seed capital and government research grants, over four years to get Mooter off the ground and bring the company to listing stage.

In the process, Ms Capper says she created patents and defendable technology, managed the expansion of the team and client base and led its early expansion into Asian markets, as well as leading the company into deals with major clients including Yahoo and Fairfax.

'Although everyone was telling me at the time that 'the internet is dead,' I did a lot of research, and used my instincts, and from that I knew that search technology was going to be significant,' she says.

'I enjoy building and growing companies then moving on to the next challenge when they reach the point of being strong and able to function without me - with cash flow, good deals in place and robust enough to take on a new management team.'

Ms Capper has a new venture in the online space, a health consortium portal called LookMedical, which she plans to launch in mid 2006 and list within the next few years. The venture involves partners including a University of Queensland research division, the Your Health Group and Optimal Health Communications, a print publisher in the health space.
