Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
Emprisa is a supplier of network compliance, change and configuration management and automation solutions.
Pre-existing technology and marketing partnerships mean Emprisa's software already integrates with both BMC's Atrium Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and Change Management System.
Emprisa’s E-NetAware provides for the control and audit of configuration changes across the entire network; the centralised definition, auditing and enforcement of network security policies; and the rapid assessment and remediation of network security vulnerabilities.
"Critical IT infrastructures now extend well beyond the data centre. With the acquisition of Emprisa Networks, BMC extends its service automation strategy to help customers reach IT automation and efficiency goals across the entire infrastructure, inside the data centre and out," said Jim Grant, senior vice president and general manager of BMC's enterprise service management unit.
"Managing change across the network is critical for service availability and provisioning. With this acquisition, BMC offers the only platform independent, multi-vendor network configuration automation solution."
Sherrie Woodring, CEO and co-founder of Emprisa Networks said "Bringing our proven network management technology into the broader BSM vision will redefine what is expected in the network change and configuration management space."
The terms of the translation were not disclosed.
In other news, the company announced BMC Service Automation, a suite of tools to automate the lifecycle of IT-delivered business services, from provisioning and configuration to maintenance and governance/compliance, across a heterogeneous set of systems.
"IT is not about managing devices and pieces of technology, it's about delivering the services the business needs when it needs them," said Grant.
"While the average server provisioning solution can easily configure individual servers, BMC Service Automation allows customers to deploy and manage true, complex business services, not just collections of devices.
