Microsoft's 11c dividend

IT Industry - Listed Tech

Microsoft has declared a quarterly dividend of $US0.11, payable on December 13.

This marks a small increase on the previous $US0.10 quarterly dividends.

In after hours trading, the share price rose from $US28.93 to $US29.00.

US based IT companies traditionally return low dividends to shareholders, who instead expect to be rewarded with capital growth. Both Microsoft's and IBM's shares yield approximately 1.4 percent.

Over the last five years, the Windows vendor's share price has failed to keep up with the rise in the Dow Jones index, whereas IBM's is currently running neck and neck.
