Personal Broadband Australia (PBA) has formally launched its iBurst mobile wireless broadband service in Melbourne. The service, which is already available in Sydney and the Gold Coast, offers bandwidth of up to 1Mbps for users who can stay online while travelling at speeds of up to 100 km/hour.
PBA chairman and CEO, Jim Cooney, says that within three years iBurst users will be able to connect wirelessly at bandwidths of 8 Mbps. "We're not out to compete head to head with fixed line broadband providers," says Cooney. "However, you have to admit that mobile wireless broadband is a killer application."
Cooney says that iBurst coverage now extends to 2 million people in Melbourne and will continue to increase as more of the estimated 100 base stations are installed across the city. For more information, visit www.iburst.com.au.
