Air traffic control simulation software developer, Adacel (ASX:ADA) has been awarded a $4 million contract to supply air traffic control tower simulators to Italy's air traffic authority, ENAV (Ente Nazionale de Assistenza Al Volo).
The two 270-degree MaxSim 3-D tower simulators with integrated voice recognition automation capability have been chosen for ENAV's aviation training college in Rome.
ADA's managing director, Silvio Salom, said the contract award highlighted ADA's technological leadership and the advanced capabilities of the company's voice recognition technology for automation and control.
"The contract strengthens Adacel's leading position internationally in air traffic control simulation and training systems," Salom said.
The addition of the two new 270-degree MaxSim 3-D tower simulators including ADA's voice recognition technology will enable the ENAV training facility to increase its air traffic control training program capability. These two new simulators add to ENAV's four existing ADA tower simulators, giving the facility one of the best training capabilities in Europe.
MaxSim is a control tower and radar simulator for both civil and defence environments, providing speaker independent voice recognition, high fidelity visuals, comprehensive weather effects and environmental sound effects.
