Dimension Data doubles up on support with new NSW centre

IT Industry - Development

Dimension Data will open a new global service centre in Sydney, creating more than 300 jobs.

South African owned ICT solutions and service provider Dimension Data will set up a new global service centre at North Ryde in suburban Sydney. There will initially be 130 new jobs at the centre, growing to over 300 within five years.

The company's existing global service centre in Melbourne already employs 300 technical staff to provide round-the-clock support to the company's clients. The North Ryde centre will also operate 24x7.

The new centre is being supported by funding from the New South Wales government, and should be operational by February 2011.

"We are delighted with the NSW Government's support in joint investment with the establishment of the Sydney-based GSC, together with development of local talent which will be an excellent long-term business decision," said COO Ken Westwood.

"Through this investment, Dimension Data will increase its commitment to the NSW community by providing greater employment opportunities in the local IT sector, and we hope this will also help to raise the profile of IT as a career choice to tertiary students," said Mr Westwood.
