Figures released by their respective parent companies show that Optus added 189,000 new mobile customers in the three months to 30 September, compared to VHA's 58,000.
According to figures released with Vodafone Group's quarterly results - which show half of VHA's additions and total numbers in line with Vodafone's share of the joint venture - VHA added 58,000 net subscribers in the quarter to 30 September taking its total customer base to 7.160 million, 44.4 percent of them prepaid,
Vodafone said: "Our Australian joint venture [VHA] continued to perform well with service revenue growth of 12.4 percent in the second quarter [compared to the same quarter last year] driven by strong data revenue and customer growth. It added: "Integration remains on track to achieve planned synergies, with significant progress made against key milestones during the period.
Optus' parent, SingTel released details of its mobile customer numbers ahead of its quarterly results announcement, scheduled for tomorrow, 11 November. They showed Optus to have added 189,000 new customers taking its customer base at 30 September to 8.877 million at 30 September. SingTel attributed the growth to "a combination of industry-leading offerings, continued focus on customer experience, and enhanced network performance."
