CSC aims at Gen Y with new Melbourne Docklands facility

IT Industry - Development

Technology provider CSC is looking to attract and retain Generation Y staff with its new centre at Melbourne's Docklands, a senior executive told iTWire. The company is spending $A78 million on the facility.

CSC is following a strategy of consolidating its workforce into a single main site in each major city with the goal of encouraging collaboration and cross-pollination among its various specialist groups.

The latest facility - located in Melbourne's Docklands, immediately west of the CBD - was officially opened today by the Federal Minister for Finance and Deregulation, Lindsay Tanner.

The Federal Government is one of CSC's large customers, Tanner has a role in the oversight of government IT, and Docklands falls into his electorate.

Tanner pointed to the "incredible" opportunities that ICT provides for governments to improve service delivery at the same time as reducing expenditure.

Regardless of the ups and downs of the economy, improvements to quality, value and economic growth will increasingly revolve around ICT, said Tanner, who expects CSC to be a part of that process.
