NBN Co to spell out how it will work with Comms Alliance

IT Industry - Development

Communications Alliance has rallied the industry to embark on an ambitious project to define many, possible, aspects of the NBN. It was initiated prior to NBN Co's formation and remains independent of NBN Co. Now, NBN Co promises to spell out how it will work with Comms Alliance.

NBN Co is planning to hold a series of network & operations information sessions at which it will "set out the scope and purpose of the industry technical and operational development and outline how the industry will be involved in its development."

In the sessions, NBN Co promises to "outline how we will work in with other industry forums such as the Communications Alliance NBN project and NBN Co's own consultation and decision making timetable."

NBN Co says that, to fulfil its charter "We need to engage with the industry to ensure our plans for the network meet the current and future needs of our wholesale customers and the wider Australian community."

The information session will cover: network planning & design; network construction; operating vision for activation, migration and assurance; supporting NBN Co operations; current NBN Co thinking on key network configuration issues; indicative service levels; interworking with customers and partners.

NBN Co says it is "particularly keen for network and operations people to attend the information sessions." This means that others might be denied access. Sessions wil be limited to 40 participants in each location "to ensure maximum collaboration and engagement," and it's not a case of 'first come first served'.

According to NBN Co, "Registration is for expression of interest only and does not confirm attendance." The lucky registrants will receive their invitations about a week in advance.
