Microsoft has reset the Australian launch date for Visual Studio 2010 to April 13.

The Australian launch of Microsoft's Visual Studio 2010 has been moved to April 13 so that it can be part of the first Australian Application Lifecycle Management conference, which opens in Sydney that day.

Not surprisingly, Microsoft is the platinum sponsor for the event.

The conference's keynote presentation will include the Visual Studio launch, and the program will be divided into two tracks, one for application lifecycle management (ALM) and the other for Visual Studio.

A full conference ticket costs $654.50.

ALM support is among the features of Visual Studio Ultimate.

New and renewal subscriptions to Visual Studio Premium taken out before April 13 will convert to "a more advanced edition" (presumably Ultimate) when Visual Studio 2010 arrives.

According to a Microsoft spokesperson, this offer will provide "significant savings in licensing costs."

A beta release of Visual Studio 2010 is available , and the company is encouraging its use by developers: "It’s a full-octane beta release with a “Go Live” license that you can use to concept, build, test, and deploy* your next project."
