Critical updates for Adobe's AIR, Flash Player

IT Industry - Development

Adobe has released more critical updates for Flash Player and AIR. Versions for all platforms have been updated.

Adobe has addressed seven vulnerabilities in its widely-used Flash Player and AIR software.

The updates have been classified as critical, as six of the vulnerabilities can be used to cause crashes or possibly to take control of a system.

The seventh is Windows-specific (it applies to the Flash Player ActiveX control), and could allow information disclosure.

Adobe recommends users of Adobe Flash Player 10.0.32.18 and earlier versions update to Adobe Flash Player 10.0.42.34, and users of Adobe AIR version 1.5.2 and earlier versions update to Adobe AIR 1.5.3.

Visit this page at Adobe's web site to identify installed version of Flash Player and for a link to the latest version.

The latest version of AIR is available here.

Adobe recently switched to a monthly schedule (aligned with Microsoft's) for the release of updates.

The company is warning Macintosh users that Flash Player 10.1 - due in the first half of next year - will be the last to support G3-based Macs, and that there will be no further security updates for such systems after version 10.1 is released.
