Announced a couple of days ago, Nintendo is planning to 'hide' 4 gold coins on successive days (1st to the 4th December) in the CBDs of Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. Day 4 winners will receive a copy of the new Wii game Super Mario Bros valued at $99.95.
The clues for each location will be publicised in the previous day's MX newspaper.
Summarising the rules, winners must:
* Determine the location of the coin from the clue in the previous day's MX newspaper. The coins will not be 'available' until 12:30pm each day.
* Present the clue from the newspaper to the Nintendo representative at each coin location in order to be validated for the next day's hunt. Validation will require the seeker to provide name, address and date of birth to the Nintendo representatives at each location. Proof of identity will be required.
* Be one of the first 10 to find the 4th clue and arrive at the location with validation from the previous 3 coin locations.
The ten winners of the game at each location will be given their prize at the time of winning. A further ten winners in each city will have a $50 cheque mailed to them at some later date.
Note that although professing a general adherence with Australia's privacy legislation, the competition rules are very vague as to what will be done with the information collected as a condition of entry into the competition. Prospective coin hunters should read the "Conditions of Participation" closely (and agree with them) before joining in the event.
With a prize value of just $99.95, this author stuggles to refrain from shouting "big deal!" However, to all participants, good luck!
