Microsoft recommends Windows users that are located in or communicate with Western Australia apply an update before Saturday night.
Daylight savings time was scheduled to start in Western Australia this weekend, but a referendum has led to its abolition.
Unless an update is applied, all versions of Windows - including XP, Vista and Windows 7 - will fail to calculate the correct time in Western Australia.
The issue doesn't only affect systems that are located in Western Australia - calendar items that involve WA may also go wrong without the update.
The update is available
here.
According to Microsoft officials, this update is a temporary measure that will operate until January 7, 2010. A permanent update will be delivered as part of December's Patch Tuesday (which falls on December 8).
