More Apple updates address hardware and software issues

IT Industry - Development

Apple has released another wave of updates over the last couple of days, addressing Bluetooth, hard drive, and Remote Desktop issues.

Following the release of iPhoto 8.1 earlier this week, Apple has pushed out four more updates covering various hardware and software problems.

Bluetooth Firmware Update 2.0.1 (for Mac OS X 10.5.7 or later) is aimed at Macs using the Broadcom chipset for Bluetooth. According to Apple, it contains bug fixes and provides better compatibility with the Wireless Mighty Mouse and the Apple Wireless Keyboard.

MacBook Pro Hard Drive Firmware Update 2.0 is intended to reduce "certain infrequent noises made by 7200-rpm drives" as fitted to the June 2009 revision of the MacBook Pro.

Drive firmware updates are a little different to most, so be sure to read the instructions before proceeding,

The Apple Remote Desktop updates address both the client (3.3.1) and admin (3.3) software. As usual, Apple is saying little about what's changed other than that the updates address "several issues related to overall reliability."

The updates required by a particular system can be installed by using Software Update, or the installers can be obtained via Apple's Support Downloads page.
