On the audio side, there is a revision of Logic Studio plus news of a prosumer application.

Logic Studio gains Amp Designer and Pedalboard plugins, and the ability to synchronise tracks recorded at different tempos.

MainStage 2's new Playback plugin allows performances with pre-recorded audio.

Logic Studio also includes new version of Soundtrack Pro found in Final Cut Studio.

Logic Studio costs $US449/$A749 (upgrades are $US199/$A299).

Apple also announced an August release for Logic Express, a streamlined version of Logic aimed at GarageBand users who want more power and control.

This is similar to the way the company offers Final Cut Express as an intermediate step between iMovie and Final Cut Pro.

Logic Express will cost $US199/$A299.
