Today's release of the service pack adds full Office Live Workspace and Sharepoint connectivity, enabling Mac Office apps to open and save documents stored on those servers.
The connectivity is provided by Microsoft Document Connection, which gives Mac Office the same ability to work with online files directly that Windows Office users already enjoyed.
Besides offering direct access, the tool also makes it easier to upload and access files.
Other enhancements in the service pack include improvements to both stability and performance in each of the applications, plus some new features.
The full list of what's included in the upgrade is available on the
Microsoft Support Site .
The upgraded version of Office, also known as version 12.2.0, is now the minimum requirement for the upcoming Microsoft Entourage 2008 for Mac Web Services Edition.
Now in beta, the Web Service Edition will use Exchange Web Services rather then WebDAV to make Entourage better able to work with Microsoft Exchange Server installations.
