Business intelligence software vendor, Cognos, claimed that more than 1,000 IT and senior executives from both business and government organisations attended its one-day Performance 2005 seminars staged across the country this month, heralding a surge in BI interest.
According to Cognos, the numbers far exceeded attendance of any previous events that the vendor has staged in its 20-year history in Australia indicating strong interest in BI for 2006 IT agendas.
Having taken place in more than 40 cities around the world, including Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney, the Performance 2005 seminars covered topics such as the impact of compliance on finance and IT, why BI standardisation matters to the business bottom line, and an overview of Cognos 8, the company's web-based BI product.
“The response we had for interest in the seminars is fantastic. The boundaries of BI continue to be pushed to greater heights and it is fantastic to see so many organisations looking at performance management as integral to their IT strategies for 2006,” said David Merchant, marketing director, Cognos.
