Adobe adding RTMP subset to Open Screen push

IT Industry - Development

The published RTMP specification will leave out the part that protects content.

If developers implementing the standard want to incorporate protection measures, they are free to roll their own - neither the specification nor the corresponding licence require or restrict the inclusion of such measures.

Other companies involved in the Open Screen Project include ARM, Cisco, Comcast, Intel, LG, Motorola, MTV, NBC, Nokia, NTT DoCoMo, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and Verizon Wireless.

As you can see, that covers pretty much the entire chain from component makers, CE manufacturers, content producers and carriers.

Adobe's being a little vague about when the RTMP spec will be published, referring only to "the first half of 2009."

When it arrives, you'll be able to find it here on the Adobe Developer Connection site.

Earlier this month, Adobe and Intel announced plans to port both Flash Lite and the full Flash Player to the Intel Media Processor CE 3100, a system-on-a-chip device intended for use in Internet-connected consumer electronics products such as TVs and set-top boxes.
