Data recovery provider, Kroll Ontrack, has released Ontrack Power Controls 5.1, a new tool the company says is a first of a kind solution compatible with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.
Ontrack claims a number of benefits of utilising
Ontrack PowerControls, including minimising the time to restore an
individual document, maintaining data integrity of the SharePoint
source and target and minimisation of the costs involved in restoring
lost items.
Ontrack’s general manager, Asia Pacific, Adrian Briscoe, said
PowerControls 5.1 allows IT administrators to easily and efficiently
share and restore items from a SharePoint database.
According to Briscoe, administrators familiar with Ontrack
PowerControls software for Exchange could now apply time and cost
saving recovery capabilities to what he said was a widely used
enterprise content management (ECM) application.
Briscoe maintained that while SharePoint Server 2007 had advantageous
ECM capabilities, “the human management element all too often posed
data loss risks to users and companies that relied on this data
collaboration tool."
