Communications solutions provider Mobilesoft (ASX:MSO) has won an integration contract with Tabcorp which will see Mobilesoft supply the entertainment giant with more than 2,000 units of it's ADAPT software and Outlet Gateway Devices (OGW) for use throughout New South Wales.
The $5 million Tabcorp order is the largest contract for ADAPT and OGW devices that Mobilesoft has received to date, according to the company. The contract includes ongoing maintenance and provides Tabcorp with a platform to implement additional Mobilesoft technology throughout other divisions.
Thes major integration project has become necessary since Tabcorp recently acquired TAB Limited in NSW - making it the fourth largest entertainment and gaming company in the world. Essentially, the Mobilesoft technology will create a common infrastructure across the businesses.
More than 2,000 of Tabcorp's retail outlets in New South Wales will be upgraded to the Mobilesoft technology, giving them access to a fully integrated wagering pool in Victoria and New South Wales.
Mobilesoft's technology allows the integration of Tabcorp's BRAVO wagering engine with each of the Eureka wagering terminals in the retail venues. By implementing the Mobilesoft ADAPT technology data compression, prioritisation, encryption and authentication will be achieved in line with the Tabcorp's technical requirements. In addition to its wagering business, this means Tabcorp can also use this platform for other areas such as gaming and Keno, subject to regulatory approval.
'Having just completed a very successful Retail Wagering Network project in Victoria, Mobilesoft was a clear choice as a preferred technology partner for the NSW integration project. Through implementing 'like for like' technology in Victoria and NSW, we are able to concentrate on bringing home significant integration benefits for Tabcorp and its shareholders. This major integration of technology will bring New South Wales up to the very high standards currently used across the Victorian wagering network. The integration will enable New South Wales and Victoria to consolidate support across the two states by using the common infrastructure' said George Mackey, executive
general manager technical services, Tabcorp.
The Mobilesoft technology will be delivered in June 2005 and Tabcorp will roll it out during the second half of the year.
'This contract with Tabcorp will also contribute towards Mobilesoft achieving our market forecast of $2 million EBITDA,' said Tom Simms, managing director, Mobilesoft.
Think again. Most businesses only have PART of a DR plan - and this spells business disaster in the event of an IT disaster.
