Notebook vendor Toshiba has released a new range of notebook computers for the consumer and small business markets, including its first tablet model for the retail sector.
The range includes four new models:
- Satellite R10: a pen-based tablet notebook starting at $3,499
- Satellite M40X: a slim widescreen notebook starting from $2,299;
- Satellite A80: a desktop-replacement notebook from $1,799;
- Satellite L10: an entry-level notebook for basic mobile computing.
Upgrades have also been made to:
- Satellite M40: with an Intel Pentium M Processor 760, 80 GB hard drive, integrated Bluetooth and the new Centrino Mobile Intel 915PM Express Chipset;
- Satellite P30: upgraded with an Intel Pentium 4 Processor 560 (3.6 GHz), DVD SuperMulti Double Layer drive, and Express Card Slot.Satellite R10
The Satellite R10 tablet notebook features a 14 inch poly-silicon display, pressure sensitive digitiser, a 60GB hard drive and 1.7 MHz processor. The tablet has also been ruggedised, including three-dimensional drop detection technology, which protects the hard disk drive data from sudden impact. The Satellite R10 also comes with an optional Tablet Multi Dock, for simple connection to optional peripherals whilst at home or in-the-office.
Unlike other Toshiba notebooks, which are available at a variety of retail outlets, the R10 tablet is only available at Harvey Norman stores.
