Dutch ICT services provider Getronics has signed an agreement with Tabcorp, for the provision of Keno support services across 2,200 sites in New South Wales and Queensland.
The contract, worth more than $5 million over three years, includes the delivery of field service and logistics management of all Keno terminals and peripheral equipment.
Following a competitive industry tender, Getronics won the contract for providing onsite maintenance, technology refresh and business continuity services including disaster recovery. Employing 12,000 staff across Australia, Tabcorp is the fourth largest gambling and entertainment business in the world. Following a spate of acquisitions which has added Tab Ltd, Jupiters and Star City to its business, Tabcorp has been looking for expertise outside of Tabcorp Technical Services to support its growth strategy and operations.
"The decision to work with Getronics was driven by a focus on consolidation of our business and we realised that we could not go it alone," says George Mackey, Tabcorp executive general manager, technical services. "Getronics allows us to transfer the risks associated with maintaining skilled field service technical staff, while allowing our Technical Services team to focus their efforts on core business activities."
Tabcorp is expecting the outsourcing contract to deliver service consistency and cost efficiencies across its gaming operations. In addition, Getronics' systems experts will focus on infrastructure business continuity, to minimise the threats to Keno terminal productivity associated with hardware and software failure.
"We'll be providing Tabcorp with our extensive day-to-day IT management experience," says Basil Reilly, Getronics director, sales & strategy. "We'll be focused on improving their competitive advantage by reducing the risks regarding staffing and infrastructure support."
The contract also includes the transition of 13 Tabcorp employees to Getronics.
Think again. Most businesses only have PART of a DR plan - and this spells business disaster in the event of an IT disaster.
