IDG World Expo and Australian trade show organizer, Australian Exhibition Services (AES), will stage a LinuxWorld Conference & Expo in Australia in 2006.
Under a license agreement, AES will stage the internationally recognised LinuxWorld Conference & Expo in Sydney early next year. The expo and conference will be held at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre.
The Sydney event will mirror similar LinuxWorld expos that have been staged throughout the world.
According to the organisers, LinuxWorld will be the largest dedicated Open Source event in Australia and is timed to capture the enthusiasm for Linux as a viable enterprise option.
Research group, IDC, has projected that the total market for Linux devices and software will jump from US$11 billion in 2004 to US$35.7 billion by 2008.
The open source event also marks the return of AES, which formerly staged annual PC shows, to IT industry expos after a five year absence. AES, once owned by Selby, was acquired in 2000 by US trade show organiser Diversified Business Communications.
According to AES Chairman, Graeme Selby, "The agreement with IDG World Expo is an exciting opportunity for AES to re-engage with the IT sector given our history as organisers of the PC Shows which dominated the IT expo arena in Australia for nearly 20 years."
Think again. Most businesses only have PART of a DR plan - and this spells business disaster in the event of an IT disaster.
