Payments terminals vendor Bill Express Limited (ASX: BXP), has announced that its network will enable the purchase of music and games on the internet without the use of a credit card using a prepaid voucher system.
The prepaid vouchers can be purchased from Bill Express terminals at the stores of retailer Harvey Norman.
Bill Express, in providing the capability to distribute and authorise a prepaid micro payment transaction, claims to be the first company to provide this service to the Australian market.
Bill Express has provided the distribution of value and the management of the transaction authorisation process for the recently launched speciality website www.musicandgames.com.au. The prepaid service allows consumers to purchase music and games without the need for a credit card.
“Dealing with only one company, Bill Express for in-store terminals and for download authorisation has made this a simple project. There is absolutely no need for a credit card transaction to be involved and we are looking forward to growing volumes of music and games down loads,” said John Slack-Smith, general manager computers and communications, Harvey Norman.
Harvey Norman has Bill Express terminals in their stores that distribute the vouchers and consumers who purchase a prepaid voucher can redeem its value on the www.musicandgames.com.au website.
The website is the result of an agreement between Harvey Norman Limited (ASX: HVN) and online music provider, Destra Corporation Limited (ASX: DES).
