Kordia claims a long heritage and proven track record in all facets of radio engineering and broadcast communications, including design, build, operations, maintenance and international consultancy. A key capability in Australia is claimed to  the deployment, through the THL arm,  of large scale mobile phone and broadcast networks and the provision of maintenance and engineering support to network operators.

In Australia, Kordia operates broadcast, telecommunications and converged services businesses. It maintains the national broadcast network that delivers ABC and SBS television and radio services throughout Australia from around 600 sites and also provides services to a range of other broadcasters.

Kordia installed the first digital television transmission facilities in Australia and has since completed a significant portion of the national roll-out. It has assisted Commercial Radio Australia (CRA) in implementing digital audio broadcasting (DAB) trials in Sydney.

“The proposed introduction by the government of two new national digital channels for narrowcasting and mobile TV services will provide further opportunity for Kordia to demonstrate its expertise in rolling-out and maintaining large scale digital networks,” said Powl.

Kordia claims that its customers include all of the major Australian carriers and the leading network equipment vendors and says it as  provided IP telephony and core network design and build services to major Australian organisations. “We played a significant role in the building and commissioning of several cellular networks in Australia and the Pacific region,” said Kordia Solutions' (AAPCS) MD, peter Robson.
