Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
Moloney, said: "The addition of Broadbus Technologies will bring Motorola's video delivery platform one step closer to enabling [our] vision of seamless mobility by providing us with field-proven content management and delivery solutions. Service providers will be able to take advantage of a complete end-to-end seamless video experience enabled by Motorola technology to extend their customer relationships."
This was followed in September by the announcement of a $US3.9 billion deal to acquire Symbol Technologies; again in pursuit of seamless mobility but this time in the enterprise rather than the consumer market. Symbol's enterprise mobility solutions integrate data capture products, radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, mobile computing platforms, wireless infrastructure, mobility software and services programs.
At the time, Greg Brown, president of Motorola's Networks and Enterprise business, said: "Motorola and Symbol share a common vision of providing enterprise mobility solutions. Symbol's world-class product platform complements Motorola's vision of seamless mobility and will be the core of Motorola's enterprise group." He claimed that combining assets, expertise, customer and supplier bases and industry-leading products, would put Motorola at the forefront of enterprise mobility.
On completion of the Netopia acquisition, Netopia will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Motorola and will be integrated into Motorola's Connected Home Solutions business. Motorola says it intends to maintain Netopia's headquarters in Emeryville, California, which will serve as the new headquarters of Motorola's global voice and data CPE business. The acquisition is expected to be completed in early 2007.
