Unisys has been selected as the preferred tenderer to provide a range of selected IT services to the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs (DIMA), beating off a challenge from CSC.
The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Immigration and
Multicultural Affairs, Andrew Robb, said the total value of the
contract was around $140 million.
Mr Robb said Unisys has been assessed as offering the best value for
money at this stage for the range of IT services required by DIMA.
“Unisys will provide a one stop shop for service and help with IT
issues including an IT service desk, internet and e-mail security, and
desktop services,” he said.
“The establishment of a single point of contact service desk by April
2007 will be one of Unisys’ key priorities and will enable coordination
and management of all IT inquiries, issues and incidents from beginning
to end. This system will also support the Systems for People programme
which will provide a single view of the client in real time, and
transforming the way the department carries out its business and
assists clients.”
Mr Robb said subject to successful tender negotiations, a contract was
expected to be in place by the middle of December and would be for four
years with two one-year extension options. He said if DIMA and Unisys
could not agree on appropriate terms then the department may negotiate
with the runner up, CSC.
