Open Spatial Australia wins City West Water deal

Open Spatial Australia has won a deal to provide an Enterprise Spatial Data Management system for City West Water, one of Melbourne’s three metropolitan retail water businesses.

The Open Spatial solution for City West Water will comprise a Spatial Data Capture and Spatial Data Management business application.

Users throughout City West Water will have access to accurate maps through a browser based solution that is the same for both office staff and crews out in the field. The solution based on Internet and Web Services technologies which will be totally integrated with the organisation’s Field Operations Case Utility System (FOCUS from ViryaNet).

The solution is based on Autodesk and Oracle Locator technologies to deliver robust commercial grade business applications specific to the Water and Wastewater businesses.

Matthew Giesemann, General Manager Engineering at City West Water said: “The solution has an enterprise approach which goes beyond traditional Geographic Information Systems (GIS) implementations. The ability to spatially enable our critical applications will improve business process and ultimately our bottom line. City West Water is committed to Geospatial Information Technology to improve our productivity and better target the delivery of our services.”

Enterprise Spatial Data Management is designed to improve data quality, data accuracy, data integrity and remote data availability. This means water utilities have better information with which to make their business decisions.

LogicaCMG have been engaged by Open Spatial Australia to project manage and deliver integration services for the project.
