The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) has appointed telecoms market research firm, Yankee Group, as the official industry analyst of its flagship event, ITU Telecom World 2006, to be held in Hong Kong in December.
Fernando Lagraña, executive manager of ITU Telecom, said the ITU had chosen Yankee Group "based on our confidence that Yankee Group's authoritative analysis and research has the most impact on global ICT industry.
He added: "After considering several top industry research firms making contributions in communication technologies, ITU awarded Yankee Group the recognition as the Official Industry Analyst of ITU Telecom World 2006 because of the firm's 35+ years of history and its deep insight into how the communications industry and networks are currently undergoing major connectivity transformations."
In its role as official analyst, Yankee Group will "provide the primary industry knowledge and research driving the content of the "Living the Digital World" event theme.
Yankee Group 'thought leaders' - chief strategy officer, Berge Ayvazian, and vice president Camille Mendler - will be part of the speaker line-up, "presenting new research and strategic analysis on the changing wireline and wireless technologies, infrastructure, and network carriers- and their effects on the global community."
