Telstra has fleshed out the details of its two way deal with Australia Post, announced in June under which Telstra will both use and support Australia Post's planned digital mailbox service, and provide other services to Australia Post.
The service, announced in April, will be based on the Pitney Bowes Volly digital mailbox technology. It will enable organisations that have traditionally sent out paper bills and other similar important communications to customers to deliver these into a secure digital mailbox that each customer will be able to access.
In June Telstra became the first organisation to announced that it would use the service and the two announced an MoU under which Telstra was to "provide the capability to deliver more products and services through the Australia Post IT network, which will assist in the rollout of Australia Post's retail superstores across the country," "work with Australia Post towards an agreement for the Digital MailBox service to be hosted on Telstra's Australian based secure cloud computing platform."
Under an agreement announced today, Telstra will provide Australia Post with a managed IP network, mobile services, smartphones and tablets, unified communication services an a locally based, secure cloud services to support the new Digital MailBox service.
Telstra will "help Australia Post move its current product-based infrastructure to a new managed services network that enables Australia Post to deliver new products and services to its customers throughout its retail and distribution network."
Telstra said: "The agreement will also see Telstra provide service management expertise for the rollout of the Australia Post IT network transformation project, as well as a new integrated service desk for all Telstra services provided to the organisation."
