Global library and management solutions provider, Softlink, has been selected by  leading Victorian TAFE, Kangan Institute, to deliver its web-based information management solution, Liberty, for use in Kangan's six Melbourne campuses.

Under the contract, the Softlink solution will give the TAFE 24/7 connectivity to resources across multiple devices to facilitate the college's resource management and learning objectives.

According to Kangan Institute's Learning Resource Services Manager, Mehmet Tuncel,  Softlink's Liberty solution presented the strongest overall package, with specific features such as Moodle integration and federated search already developed and included within the package.

'Our selection panel felt the look and feel of the product was very innovative and fulfilled the expectation of our staff and students. We felt that the circulation and back-end functions were superior to other products we looked at.'

Tuncel said Softlink's Liberty package won out over several other international library system vendors after the institute went to tender for the library and learning centre's new system.  'We believe Liberty will not only offer significant improvements to our customers in terms of online functionality and services, but it will also save us considerable time in back-end functions such as ordering. Liberty will enable us to concentrate on more face-to-face interaction with our customers,' Tuncel added.
