IT Industry - Deals

Managed and in-cloud security services and threat analysis company, earthwave, has entered into a multi-year agreement to further secure the information assets at VicSuper, one of Australia's fastest growing super funds.

The agreement enables the not-for-profit VicSuper, with over 250,000 members and 14,000 employers, to augment its highly advanced security infrastructure by leveraging earthwave's expertise in threat management and cyber security.

According to Carlo Minassian, founder and CEO of earthwave, this type of agreement 'illustrates the increasing recognition by security-aware organisations of the need to mitigate risk and enhance internal security capabilities by engaging managed security services providers such as earthwave.'

'earthwave continues to gain momentum by leveraging its foothold in the Australian market through the largest catalogue of managed and in-cloud security services with extensive vendor support, diverse channel partners and distribution arrangements.'

Minassian said earthwave had taken a holistic approach to VicSuper's security that involves a 'combination of protection, detection and response services, integrated with administrative, technical and physical controls.'  'This approach will help VicSuper's Information Technology administrators defend their information assets more effectively and more productively against malware. It will also help them to take pro-active measures against potential security threats from every part of their network as they continue to take advantage of the benefits of the Internet to improve the service they provide to their members.'

VicSuper Manager of IT Services, Paul King said VicSuper had always taken 'extraordinary measures' to ensure the privacy and integrity of our information. 'This agreement continues that commitment and sets a new precedent for data protection at VicSuper. We chose to work with earthwave because of their understanding of regulatory compliance requirements in our sector, their risk-based approach to security, certified operations, and ability to address both external and insider threats across the broad range of security platforms we operate.'
