Perth software development firm, Saleem Technologies, has snared a contract from Leighton Contractors to track and manage construction materials, using its Track'em software solution, for the company's civil and underground works on the high profile and complex Gorgon project in Western Australia.
{loadpositon peter}Track'em is a patent-pending software invented by Saleem's CEO, Kashif Saleem, which tracks construction materials and assets using GPS, Barcode and RFID technology, and helps project stakeholders to deliver construction projects on time and budget.

Leighton Contractors will use Track'em for its work on earthworks, in-situ and precast concrete and underground services including drainage, piping and electrical and instrumentation cabling being installed within the Gorgon LNG plant site.

Operated by an Australian subsidiary of Chevron, the $814 million Gorgon project, 130 kilometres off Western Australia's north- west coast, is one of the world's largest natural gas projects and the largest single resource natural gas project in Australia's history.

Kashif Saleem said that the software company was 'gratified to win the opportunity to work with market leader Leighton Contractors.'

'We're a relatively new company and being awarded contracts from companies of this calibre is a great endorsement of our proprietary software and quality service.

Saleem said Track'em has been used by leading construction companies such as FMG, Worley Parsons, John Holland, United Group and Downer Engineering. The solution is a web-based, GPS, barcode and RFID material tracking system that can locate items within five seconds.

According to Saleem, the advanced software system combines integrated solutions designed to make project management more efficient, manage time better and reduce overall project costs through finding the exact location of an item, including when, where, and by who it was last scanned.

'Twenty-four seven monitoring can also be provided for each piece of equipment from fabrication to installation and completion,' Saleem said.
