Bridge Point, Server Central to merge

IT Industry - Deals

Network and security company Bridge Point Communications and data centre specialist Server Central have agreed a merger.

Bridge Point Communications and Server Central plan to merge on June 30.

The intention is to retain all employees, with Server Central's operations moving to the Bridge Point office in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley shortly after the deal closes. The Server Central brand will eventually be dropped, and Andrew George, managing director of Server Central will become a director of Bridge Point.

Rob Siganto, managing director of Bridge Point Communications said, "This combination is an excellent strategic fit for both parties. We see the merger as a natural progression of our current service and solution offerings. It strengthens Bridge Point in the areas of virtualisation, storage and data management so we can now provide full coverage to our customers.

"Our enhanced data centre practice will be a complementary component to our network and security offerings to service our clients in the burgeoning virtualisation market. Our main goal remains the same - to ensure the security and availability of our customers' information assets. It will be business as usual."

Mr George noted that Server Central has previously partnered with Bridge Point, and that there is a good cultural fit between the two businesses. "The merger makes sense," he said.

Financial terms were not disclosed.
