Fujitsu to provide desktop support for NBN Co

IT Industry - Deals

A deal worth as much as $25 million will see Fujitsu providing desktop support services to all NBN Co staff.

Hot on the heels of winning a major contract to deploy part of the NBN fibre network, Fujitsu has now inked a $25 million, three year contract to provide NBN Co with desktop support services.

"NBN Co is pleased to add Fujitsu to the range of leading companies it is working with to provide the latest services to support its operations. After just two years, NBN Co has established a number of key supplier relationships and put in place most of the major components for the rollout and future operation of the business," said Steve Christian, head of operations at NBN Co.

Mike Foster, CEO of Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand, said "Fujitsu looks forward to working with NBN Co to meet its ambitious mandate of delivering high-speed broadband to every Australian. This Agreement represents a sound alignment of NBN Co's objectives and Fujitsu's capabilities and experience and leverages the investments we have made over the last few years in the area of managed services."

NBN Co has already contracted Citrix to supply, install and support desktop virtualisation software. While the initial deployment is aimed at supporting the network rollout, it appears that the broadband network builder intends to use it more widely over time.
