McAfee, Dimension Data secure government contract

IT Industry - Deals

Global security giant, McAfee, and ICT solutions and services vendor, Dimension Data have been selected by the Victorian Government agency, CenITex, to provide an integrated threat and vulnerability management solution to improve end-to-end information security efficiency and optimise information security management across the organisation.

The value of the contract has not been disclosed, but Andrew Littleproud, managing director of McAfee Australia/New Zealand, said the security initiative will upgrade CenITex's capability to deliver ICT threat and vulnerability management (TVM) to government departments and agencies, better secure its own operating environment and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives.

Littleproud said McAfee will provide an 'industry-leading best practice framework that will deliver the end-to-end information security management capability required. This solution will enable CenITex to further improve operational efficiency and streamline security management whilst effectively meeting their compliance goals.'

The CenITex centre for IT excellence is an ICT shared services agency established as a state body by the Victorian Government to centralise ICT support to government departments and agencies, and the TVM scope comprises a solution architecture and service delivery encompassing four key security areas - gateway content filtering, endpoint protection for servers and desktops, and network, and vulnerability assessment.

Dimension Data's Australian CEO, Steve Nola, said the company had been providing a range of services and solutions to CenITex since the organisation was formed in 2008, and it had a 'strong understanding of CenITex, its environment and the challenges the organisation faces.'
