Telstra's directories and search arm, Sensis, has extended its two year old relationship with Google to become an authorised reseller of Google's AdWords advertising program in Australia.
In November 2008 the two signed an agreement under which Google's search technology unpins Sensis' search service and Sensis' Yellow Pages business information is integrated into Google Maps. The deal was hailed at the time as "Australia's biggest-ever search marketing agreement," taking Google's share of the Australian search market beyond 90 percent.
Google AdWords allow advertisers to display ads in response to a Google search using keywords related to that advertiser's products and services. These ads appear in the 'Sponsored links' sections on each search results page, above the 'organic' search results.
Sensis plans to offer SMEs "professional, full-service Google AdWords account management, from account setup and activation to ongoing campaign monitoring and optimisation.
Todd Rowe, Google's head of global channel sales, said: "Our relationship with Sensis will build on their already strong relationships with small and medium sized businesses in Australia and encourage more Australian businesses to use online advertising as a cost-effective way to find and target new customers, whether they are just around the corner or across the globe."
