IT Industry - Deals

Quest Software has completed its acquisition of data protection software provider BakBone Software.

The acquisition of BakBone by Quest saw shareholders receive $US0.33 per common share and $US1.29 per preferred share.

Quest intends to incorporate BakBone technologies in its existing range of data protection software. More details of the strategy will be revealed before the end of March, company officials said.

Quest CEO and president Doug Garn said "Our customers will reap the benefits, as we give them comprehensive data protection coverage at a lower total cost of ownership, and with the added bonus of world-class customer support."

BakBone's NetVault products will be rebranded as Quest NetVault and sold as a suite and individual programs, at least in the short term.
