BAE Systems Australia has acquired security provider stratsec.

Defence, security and aerospace company BAE Systems Australia (part of UK-based BAE Systems) has acquired Australia-based security provider stratsec.

Tim Scully, former head of DSD's Cyber Security Operations Centre and the newly appointed CEO of stratsec said "this acquisition represents another significant step forward in BAE Systems' global cyber security strategy.  At a local level BAE Systems Australia's cyber support unit is being merged with stratsec, encouraging more research, collaboration, knowledge sharing and increasing capability between the government and business."

Company officials say the current 70 specialist staff will be reinforced during the year to meet significant growth targets.

stratsec was Telstra's 2010 business of the year.
