TechnologyOne ‘home-grown’ solution, R&D secures health contract

IT Industry - Deals

Australian-listed enterprise software provider, TechnologyOne has secured a key contract with Victoria’s largest not-for-profit private hospital group, Epworth HealthCare to deploy its enterprise suite of financials, supply chain, business intelligence, enterprise budgeting, works & assets, and customer relationship management (CRM) across Epworth’s operations.

According to Alan Kinkade, group chief executive of Epworth HealthCare, said TechnologyOne was selected for a number of reasons, including its “commitment to R&D.”

“Aside from having a solution that meets our business requirements, we also selected TechnologyOne based on its ‘home grown’ credentials and its demonstrated commitment to R&D, particularly in the areas of supply chain and prosthesis management.

“We never anticipated finding a vendor that could do all of the things we will require in the future, right now, but with a 20% annual investment in R&D, we were comfortable that TechnologyOne would be the leading vendor when it comes to intuitive, forward thinking software design focused on meeting the needs of the healthcare sector.”

Deployment of TechnologyOne’s solutions will include the hospital group’s acute medical and surgical services, sub-acute care, diagnostics and rehabilitation.

Kincade said the major project will sit at the core of Epworth’s broader strategic growth program, which includes developing the Epworth Teaching Hospital model. He also said the local R&D support was a deciding factor in the selection of TechnologyOne, and comes at a time when the industry faces the introduction of the Federal Government’s health reforms.

According to TechnologyOne executive chairman, Adrian Di Marco, the company takes into account the specific challenges facing its seven key vertical markets when developing software.

“Without listening to our customers, we have no business. The health sector is a key vertical market for TechnologyOne. If the healthcare industry is facing major structural reforms initiated through the National Health and Hospitals Network and personally controlled electronic health record through e-Health initiatives, our commitment is to develop functionality that not only addresses this, but also creates an automated process to ease the burden.”

Di Marco said the company already counts more than 25 high profile healthcare organisations as customers, including Healthscope, Little Company of
Mary and the Royal Flying Doctor Service, which, he claimed, collectively have delivered over $9 million in revenue for the company over the past
three years.
