NetApp and Dimension Data win Victorian Government storage contract

IT Industry - Deals

Victorian state government shared IT services agency CenITex has chosen NetApp and Dimension Data to provide storage, backup and recover services.

CenITex provides centralised ICT support to Victorian Government departments and agencies. Following a tender process, it has selected NetApp and Dimension Data to provide private cloud-based storage.

Peter O'Connor, vice president for NetApp Australia and New Zealand, said "We are very pleased to be working with the Victorian Government, CenITex and Dimension Data on this project.  It means we can help to build Victoria's home-grown talent, whilst helping to put the Government on the world stage for ICT excellence and intellectual incubation.

"NetApp's Global Centre for Virtualization Excellence in Melbourne is a key enabler for the project. It is the only centre of its kind in the world and helps to develop technologies and talent that will help take our customers forward into the next generation of technology efficiency and business breakthroughs."

Steve Nola, Australian CEO for Dimension Data, said the CenITex contract was one of the largest cloud-based storage deals in Australia to date.

"Dimension Data is delighted to be part of it and to have the opportunity to continue our long standing relationship with the Victorian Government," he said. "Our field force will work closely with CenITex and its customers, delivering support and professional services, including training and certification."
