Public sector software provider Objective has achieved an extension of its agreement with the Australian Department of Defence.

The extended agreement between Objective and the Department of Defence is said to be worth at least $A10 million over the next five years.

The Department uses Objective's electronic document and records management software, and has been a customer of the company for more than a decade.

Tony Corcoran, assistant secretary, freedom of information and information management, Department of Defence, said "Objective has been a trusted partner for over 10 years. This agreement allows us to maximise benefits from our investment by leveraging Objective's public sector expertise and innovative technology."

A project to upgrade 25,000 users within the Department to Objective 7.5 is under way and expected to be completed by the end of the year. A further rollout to up to 60,000 users is under consideration.

"This contract evidences our successful history with Defence," said Objective CEO Tony Walls.

"It also illustrates the value that our customers receive from Objective's investment and commitment to research and development," he added.
