Melissa Martin, Senior Market Analyst, IDC Australia, believes that the mining sector has been particularly proactive in using IP technology to support its business goals.

'Thanks to the abundant mineral resources, rich farming land, skilled industry professionals and advanced extraction processes, Australia is a leader in the global resources industry. The resource sector has shown a willingness to use technology to drive their business imperatives and their accelerated transition from traditional data to IP data will drive a raft of innovative solutions, she said.'

While the National Broadband Network is expected to eventually boost Integ's ability to deliver these services to remote locations, they are being deployed today via currently available technology.

'We believe that the proposed NBN will prompt a raft of new services delivered over an IP Network but using currently available technology such as passive and active optical networks, we have been able to design and implement this technology now.'

While the Mining sector is the main focus for Integ's Entertainment Solutions at this time, Poole anticipates that there are a wide range of opportunities to deliver this content to other industry sectors.

'We believe that the Aged Care and Health industries will also take a keen interest in entertainment content being delivered in this way. We also anticipate that there will be opportunities to enable other applications such as CC TV monitoring, or eHealth services via videoconferencing and collaboration between medical experts and remote health professionals. And of course the Hospitality sector will continue to invest in in-room entertainment solutions.'

The company has said it will continue to work with all carriers and with third party content providers.
